“Encouraging a child to go outside in all weather builds resilience, but more importantly, it saves them from spending their life merely tolerating the ‘bad’ days in favour of a handful of ‘good’ ones – a life of endless expectations and conditions where happiness hinges on sunshine.”

– Nicolette Sowder

Lack of exposure and experience trains children for a limiting and segregated life.

Our aim is to provide opportunities to learn how to get along with others in the real world, make decisions, be responsible, make friends, be safe, and other typical skills that are routine for children without disabilities.

This program is built on the study and work experience of the founder Saleha Abbasi who is a psychologist by profession. Behind Your Rainbow is several years of exposure to practices and limitations in the mainstream and special needs education, early intervention programs and the disability sector.

Our activities are constantly evolving through new knowledge from the leaders in the field, teachers specialising in outdoor education and most recent research.

We maintain active participation and engagement with several associations and industry leaders to ensure we stay on top of the new findings, ideas and best practices to help the families and children we support.
